I approached this book with a level of caution. I was such a huge fan of Let the Great World Spin, that I was worried his newest book wouldn’t live up to the hype. I did not need to worry. McCann takes a similar approach in this story, weaving his characters through three disparate settings and times until they almost miraculously overlap. I will admit it here. Writing a review of his books is just out of my league. I almost do a disservice to him by attempting to emulate his wonderful language, his empathetic characters, and his obvious love of story and plot. Just read it, you will not regret the time spent. And, as you near the end, you will absolutely wish it wouldn’t.
